Welcome to My Personal Page
Hi everyone! I’m riding for Hope in the 30th Annual Trek 100 bike ride on Saturday, June 1th. I will be riding for my daughter Jillan Olsen (Jillie). She was diagnosed with Stage 4 High Risk Neuroblastoma in November of 2017 but started to have signs of illness starting in July of 2017. It affected her in her bones and was dense in her pelvis, shoulders, elbows, spine, skull and eye sockets. This has been very long and painful year and a half for her as she battles this illness. She is currently recieving treatment at Childrens Hospital of Wisconsin in the MACC Fund Center. So far, she has endured 5 rounds of Chemotherapy, 2 rounds of High dose Chemotherapy along with two Bone Marrow Transplants, 20 rounds of radiation, 4 rounds of Antibody therapy and 2 rounds of Antibody+Chemo.
In January Jillian had her first completely clean set of scans and had another completely clean set again in March! She has officially finished her frontline treatment!! This was so exciting for us and was such a long time coming! Her journey is far from over though because we are searching out clinial trials to try to keep her safe and healthy.
I have done this ride 4 other times but this time it obviously is way more meaningful and personal for me. We are hopeful for our daughters complete recovery! The survival rates for these brave kids are improving but they could be so much better with increased funding. Right now pediatric cancer recieves so little funding and yet when we stay at the hospital every bed is always full!
Please consider supporting my efforts as I ride to find a cure for childhood cancers and related blood disorders. The MACC Fund has contributed over $62 million to pediatric cancer research sine 1976 and has played an important role in raising the overall cure rate for childhood cancer from 20% to 80% in that time. Yet, even children in the 80% category can still relapse and have ‘late effect’ issues which requires additional research. They need our help. Jillie needs our help.
Thank you for supporting my personal Trek 100 challenge on June 1st!
